We have found that, while there is interest in being “green,” but few people see the connection between their daily actions and the effects they may have on the ocean. Moreover, the meaning of “sustainability” and living a sustainable lifestyle is nebulous to many. The World Aquarium introduces a new tour based on market research aimed to the public about our conservation based operation emerging global issues and to better understand today’s present opportunities at the Aquarium. The “World Aquarium Wildlife Conservation and Sustainable Living Tour” will give traditional animal and habitat information, but will also address challenges to each type of ecosystem within the continent it is located. As specific effects affect different ecosystems in its own unique way, the tour is aimed at educating consumers about specific challenges locally, nationally and worldwide and suggesting actions which will help ameliorate negative environmental effects through personalized actions.

Extreme Adventure Tour (EAT)

Cost: $100 per person

The Extreme Adventure Tour (EAT) tour is not for little sissies who will only touch cute furry animals. Only those who are courageous and who want to live life to the fullest should attend.  Attack your deepest fears head-on by experiencing the scariest, slimiest and creepiest animals that live within the World Aquarium.  Touch and interact with tarantulas, scorpions, stingrays, sharks, cockroaches, millipedes and many more freaky creatures.

On the Extreme Adventure Tour, we aim to challenge participant past what they’ve known before, showing, through complete immersion, the extreme interactions of animals and humans across the world while taking a thrill seeking perspective to some of the most exotic or myth based animals throughout the times.  This adventure includes activities such as: tour, touch, feedings, and missions.

The EAT Tour also focuses on who eats what, who and what they eat, and how who eats what. Participants will see many animals eating, see various methods of how animals capture their food, and will be able to feed some of the animals (sharks, stingrays, snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, frogs, chameleons, anemone fish, cichlids, turtles, kinkajous, and more) which will vary depending upon the day and time of the EAT program. Visitors can even be food to some of our animals (feeding the doctor fish dead skin from the participants’ fingers).

Participants will receive a complimentary fossilized shark tooth necklace as a memento of your new courageous identity.

All participants must sign a liability waiver at the beginning of the tour.

Participants must be at least 12 years of age to participate.

World Aquarium Adventures in Learning Program  – FOR SCHOOLS ONLY!

Cost: $75 per person (Admission must be paid for participants aged 1.5 and up.)

DESCRIPTION:

The School Tour will be unique to any other, the objective of this tour is to engage kids of elementary school levels to be inspired and inquisitive over [technology, discoveries, & human activity] in the world around them by:

  1. Providing a different, new perspective to material covered in school.
  2. Showing how things learned in a personal, formal, and theoretical setting apply to daily real-world life, science, and natural setting.

Our goal with this tour is to get the kids to experience what it’s really like to be an oceanographer or scientist. Through linking small-scale interactions of a curator, life at the aquarium, and things learned in school, we hope to take education past exhibits and animal care, to an insight on the day-to-day of animals & humans alike as they live throughout the world. This educational tour has been structured around national school science curriculum models on what it really means to be environmentally mindful.

Designed for school groups, the Adventures in Learning Program is a three-hour hands-on tour on which students seek adventure within the Aquarium, behind-the-scenes, and do classroom activities at the end of their tour.  Extra touching and feeding opportunities will make this tour an experience your students will never forget! This program is scheduled Monday-Friday only.  The tour does not include visit to City Museum.
