If you have an interest in biology, animals and the environment and a few hours to spare on a regular basis, consider joining our volunteer team. Volunteers at the World Aquarium work alongside our professional staff, interacting with the public, guiding students through exhibit realms, and maintaining exhibits. No experience is necessary other than a well honed smile.
Children age 12 and up are eligible for our Volunteer program. Volunteers must come in for a regular shift of 4 hours. Regular attendance and 100% commitment is expected of all Volunteers. Due to our small staff, we can only accept highly motivated and dedicated applicants.
- Helping Visitors
Volunteers work on the exhibit floor providing information to our visitors about our exhibits and assisting with animal interaction.
Volunteers give guided tours to groups visiting the aquarium and are encouraged to volunteer for 2-4 tours per month to keep up to date on our ever-changing environment.
- Exhibit Maintenance
Volunteers assist the staff with regular daily maintenance such as cleaning exhibits, wiping algae, cleaning exhibit areas and equipment. Other assigned tasks may include duties pertaining to water quality, animal handling and feeding.
If your child would like to learn what it is like to work in an aquarium but cannot commit to a regular program, consider spending a day with our staff at Sea Camp.
